Principles of Radiative Heat Transfer

Radiation heat transfer is studied by considering both the general characteristics of radiation as well as the properties of radiating surfaces and radiation heat transfer between surfaces. Unlike conduction and convection, heat transfer by thermal radiation does not necessarily need a material medium for the energy transfer. In the case of thermal radiation from a solid surface, the medium through which the radiation passes could be vacuum, gas, or liquid. This book investigates the principles of thermal radiation and their applications to engineering heat transfer problems.
